Poveglia Plague Island
Photography
Poveglia is a small island between Venice and Lido and has served many purposes in its long history, from one of the five octagonal forts protecting the Venetian lagoon, to quarantine station during plagues, to a mental hospital before being abandoned in 1968. This photo series of Poveglia explores the dissolving  boundaries between indoors and outdoors, manmade and nature, and the unique beauty of the island.
